While most Tortles grow up near water, once they become of age, they find that they want to travel and learn more about the world. Tortles are large, turtle-like creatures that stand on two legs. While they may seem slow, many are capable fighters and adventures.

Tortles are hatched from eggs and begin life on all fours. Tortle parents normally have children when they are nearly dead of old age. This means that Tortles need to teach their offspring as much as possible before their time is up. After that, the newborn Tortle must fend for themself until they come of age at fifteen.

Tortles may be given a name at birth, but most will choose a name for themselves. Additionally, they may at any point choose to change their name for whatever reason. Tortles like names that are simple and gender-neutral, but some may use names that are influenced by their travels.
