Eagle Names Generator & Backstories

“Oh my, that is an eagle! A Great Eagle! I’ve never seen it before but my grandfather told me stories about it, and how it helped them defend their flock of sheep from a pack of wolves! It’s magnificent, look at it! I believe they also named it Violet, for the color of some of its feathers under the wings.”

Eagles, also often referred to as Great Eagles, are large birds who prey from the sky above. It is said they are intelligent, sapient, and can communicate with other species, and several stories speak of their magical nature and deep wisdom.

Being much larger than a normal eagle, their strength is also increased, tenfold, and they are able to lift large creatures high up into the air before dropping them onto the ground below, only to swoop down for a meal as it’s still falling down

In Middle-earth, for example, the largest of them reached a wingspan of more than a hundred and fifty feet, and many stories surround the names of such majestic creatures that own the sky, names like Thorondor, Gwaihir, and Landroval.

Good Eagle Names

While many races simply refer to them as Eagles or Great Eagles, they also use translations of the names, in their own language, although some would argue the original names, whatever they are, should be used at all times.

These large and dangerous flying creatures are one of the rulers of the sky, apart from a situation where a dragon might live in the same region. Their sharp claws and powerful beaks can tear through armor like it was cloth, and their intelligence and the ability to speak with other creatures make them a potent enemy. Luckily, most aren’t inclined to do evil, although they won’t hang out with just anyone for no reason. Think of where the creature was born, what dangers did they face as time passed by, what kind of a personality they now have, and create a name worthy of the magnificent view that flying high in the sky provides.
